Asian Dust Over Pacific, 29 March, 2000

Last updated March 29, 2000

Summary:

NAAPS (upper-right image) shows Asian dust over the Pacific in the clear area between a cut-off low over the Aleutians and a frontal area of clouds to the southeast seen in the GOES image (upper-left). The dust was mobilized on the 21st and 22nd of March. Though not easily seen in the TOMS imagery, the NAAPS shows its presence, and this is supported by SeaWiFS imagery (lower-left is a blowup of the area in the red box of the lower-right image). Another event occurs over China on the 27th.
