GSFC TOMS Aerosol Residual Loop
shows high residual values popping up on the 10th in southern China and
northern North Viet Nam.
Omar Torres (NASA/GSFC) says high values have been seen periodically since February
and are probably from aerosol from biomass burning above a high-albedo water cloud.
Dynamical Forcing:
NOGAPS China Loop
shows low ground wetness values at fire location
(25N, 97E; along bottom of lower-right image) for 9-21 March, 1999
Aerosol Analysis:
NAAPS World Loop
indicates that the plume is not dust or anthropogenic sulfate.
NAAPS does not show any smoke since there currently are no smoke
sources in the model.
NAAPS/TOMS Loop
compares NAAPS and TOMS. Shows aerosol over Pacific between 10 and 30N
is likely to be biomass smoke (not included in NAAPS simulation).
