Mud Rain in Spain, July 30, 2001

The images below show Saharan dust mixed in with convective activity over southern Spain on 30 July, 2001. The result was described by T. Holmstedt of Rota Spain as: ``Yesterday afternoon we saw a rare event here in Rota, thunder and rain in late July. Since it moved in from the south east it brought along dust from North Africa. We had mud rain yesterday afternoon that left a khaki color coating on everything.''
