NAAPS Meteorological Ensemble
1 degree, 360x180 CylEq (not thinned)
25 vertical sigma levels
20 member
5 species, {SO2, Sulfate, Dust, Smoke, Seasalt}
The NAAPS Meteorological Ensemble uses the research version of NAAPS with
initial conditions from the NOGAPS global meteorological model.
NAAPS is run offline, so it is uncoupled from the meteorological physics
and dynamics. The version run is consistent between members, only the
meteorological inputs differ.
The currently available products are displayed as four panels. They are:
Upper Left : Filled contours of Mean AOD of all members
Upper Right : Unfilled contour of each member at an AOD of 0.8.
Ens Mean at 0.8 is represented by a thick, red line;
deterministic NAAPS as a thick, black line
Lower Left : Filled contour warning region. Red contours represent
areas where more than 50% of members are above threshold AOD (0.8)
Lower Right : Mean-Spread plot. White unfilled contours show the
AOD mean of all members. Filled contours show normalized (by
region) standard deviation.
Ten plotting regions are available: Global, North Indian Ocean/Southeast
Asia (NIOSEA), Europe+Western Asia+North Africa (Byzantium), East Asia,
Sub-Tropical Atlantic, East Asia + Western North America (Pacific), CONUS,
South Atlantic, Southern Indian Ocean + Australia (SIOAUS), and the Arctic
(npolar).
The species and region can be selected either from the main table
or along the left margin, next to the plots.
