Description of NAAPS/NOGAPS Time-height-section Plots
Last Updated May 14, 2003
Plots of NAAPS and NOGAPS results are presented in a 4-panel format as time-height sections (THS).
Upper-left:
THS of dust concentration (shaded contours; micro-g / m^3) for the location declared in the title
and the dates shown at bottom.
Successive contour intervals double in magnitude.
Also shown, NOGAPS potential temperature (line contours, every 3 K).
Upper-right:
THS of sulfate mass mixing ratio (red-shaded contours; micro-g / m^3)
and
of smoke mass mixing ratio (blue-shaded contours; micro-g / m^3).
Successive contour intervals double in magnitude.
Also shown, NOGAPS wind speed and direction as wind barbs (full barb = 5 m/s).
Lower-left:
THS of relative humidity w.r.t. water (shaded contours; every 10%).
Also shown, NOGAPS potential temperature (line contours, every 3 K) and
wind speed and direction as wind barbs (full barb = 5 m/s).
Lower-right: Time-series of dust (blue line), sulfate (black line),
and smoke (dashed black line) optical depths
(README).
