NRL 1DVAR GLOBAL BIAS CORRECTION SCHEME MONITOR

This NRL page is used for monitoring the performance of the NOAA-11 and NOAA-14 TOVS 1DVAR Bias Correction Scheme at NRL The Bias Correction Scheme used at NRL is modeled after that of Eyre (1992).  The scheme uses the TOVS MSU channels 2, 3, and 4 as linear predictors to produce a set of global bias correction coefficients for each channel.  The air-mass dependence of the difference between observed and computed MSU radiance values allows for these channels to be used as predictors for the removal of the air-mass dependent bias in the remaining channels.
