MEDEX Input
Parameters
MEDEX prompts the user for synoptic input taken from
surface pressure and 500 mb height charts valid at the
forecast time. There are two sets of input parameters:
objective and subjective. For objective parameters, the
user measures 1) pressure differences between two
designated locations and 2) longitude position of the 500
mb ridge axis. For subjective parameters, the user
determines 1) whether a particular synoptic feature
occurs and 2) which of 500 mb flow patterns most closely
resembles the forecast chart.
